The National Examinations Council (NECO) has uncovered large-scale examination malpractice involving 38 schools across 13 states during the 2025 Internal Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
Announcing the development in Minna during the release of the 2025 Internal SSCE results, NECO Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, said nine supervisors have been recommended for blacklisting for aiding and abetting malpractice, lateness, unruly behavior, assault, and insubordination.
He noted that the affected schools, indicted for whole-school cheating, have been invited to appear before the Council to determine appropriate sanctions.
Despite the infractions, Wushishi described the 2025 examination as one of the most successful in recent years, adding that results were released 54 days after the final paper.
On performance, he disclosed that 60.26% of candidates secured five credits and above, including Mathematics and English, while 84.26% had five credits and above irrespective of Mathematics and English.
