Notorious armed robber arrested in Port Harcourt

In the early hours of Thursday, July 10, 2025, members of the Okuru Ama Surveillance Group in the Trans-Amadi area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, successfully apprehended a notorious armed robber who has been terrorizing residents across the city.

The arrest occurred at about 3:00 a.m., following credible intelligence gathered by the community’s surveillance team led by F. Peters, the Chief Security Officer (CSO). The suspect, identified simply as Promise, a native of Ogoni, had been on the radar of local security operatives for a string of violent robberies in various parts of the city.

According to sources, Commander TK of the Golf Estate Command responded swiftly to the tip-off provided by the surveillance group. Acting on the intelligence, the command moved into action, apprehending the suspect and bringing him to the main gate of the Okuru Ama community for processing.

The community has commended the vigilance and swift response of the local security structure. However, the Community Development Committee (CDC) Chairman is yet to make an official statement on the incident.

This successful operation highlights the growing importance of community-led surveillance initiatives in enhancing neighborhood safety and supporting law enforcement efforts.
