After evading capture for 17 years while orchestrating the global shipment of illicit drugs worth billions of naira, 59-year-old drug kingpin Ogbonnaya Kevin Jeff has been arrested by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). He was apprehended at his hideout in the Ojo area of Lagos.

The arrest was confirmed by Brig Gen Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, during a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, March 3, 2025. Marwa revealed that the NDLEA’s Special Operations Unit had been tracking Jeff, acting on an Interpol red notice and intelligence from the National Intelligence Service of South Korea.

According to a statement from Femi Babafemi, Director of Media & Advocacy at NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, dated March 3, 2025:

“On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, our operatives successfully apprehended Ogbonnaya Kevin Jeff, a 59-year-old drug baron, at his hideout located at No. 3, Ibukunoluwa Taiwo Close, off LASU Road, Lagos. Jeff had been under investigation by the NDLEA, and our intelligence confirmed his role as a notorious drug lord who had been recruiting young Nigerians as couriers to smuggle illicit drugs into South Korea.”
