Chelsea secured a comfortable 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, October 31, 2026, with second-half goals from Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer condemning Michael Carrick’s side to another disappointing Premier League result.

The victory was sealed by a dramatic spell in the second half, which saw United defender Lisandro Martinez sent off before Palmer converted a penalty to double Chelsea’s advantage.

Both sides struggled to break the deadlock in the opening 45 minutes, with Chelsea and United going into the interval at 0-0.

United thought they had taken the lead through Matheus Cunha, but the goal was ruled out following a VAR review in the 35th minute.

Chelsea also had an effort disallowed after another VAR intervention in the 15th minute, as both teams found it difficult to turn their attacking opportunities into goals.

The breakthrough finally arrived five minutes into the second half when Morgan Rogers fired Chelsea ahead in the 50th minute.

The midfielder capitalised on an excellent assist from Romeo Lavia to put the hosts 1-0 up and give Chelsea the momentum.

United’s afternoon took a disastrous turn in the 63rd minute when Martinez received his second yellow card and was sent off following a VAR-reviewed incident that resulted in a penalty for Chelsea.

Palmer stepped forward and calmly converted the spot-kick in the 64th minute to extend Chelsea’s lead to 2-0.

With United reduced to 10 men, Chelsea controlled proceedings and comfortably managed their advantage despite a late attempt by the visitors to find a way back into the contest.

United manager Carrick made several substitutions in an attempt to change the course of the match, but his side could not recover from the double setback of Martinez’s dismissal and Palmer’s penalty.

Chelsea also had a third goal ruled out following a VAR review in the 73rd minute, denying the hosts an opportunity to increase their advantage.

United’s frustrations were further reflected in yellow cards for Harry Maguire, Kobbie Mainoo, Bryan Mbeumo and Joshua Zirkzee, while Chelsea goalkeeper Mike Penders was also booked late in the encounter.

The result strengthens Chelsea’s position in the Premier League table, with the Blues occupying fourth place, while Manchester United remain 17th, according to the standings provided.

The defeat represents another difficult outing for Carrick, whose team will need to respond quickly to arrest their poor league position.
