The Peter Obi Media Office (POMR) has accused some state governors of allegedly making covert efforts to undermine the democratic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The office warned that any electoral process that fails to guarantee free, fair and transparent elections would be resisted by Nigerians.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, and signed by its spokesman, Indris Zekeri Jnr, the media office said governors should focus on presenting their records of service, performance and achievements rather than allegedly resorting to electoral manipulation.
It maintained that Nigerians would choose their preferred candidates based on their assessment of the options available, insisting that attempts to manipulate the electoral process would not succeed.
The statement said, “Regardless of their fraudulent efforts, they are presenting a poor product, and Nigerians will select the best option available in the market.”
POMR also condemned what it described as the increasing desperation of some governors, accusing them of seeking ways to retain political power through electoral manipulation and safeguards for rigging.
According to the office, leadership is a privilege earned through service and should not be used as a means of perpetuating power through deceit, intimidation or interference with the democratic process.
“Nigerians have had enough and remain determined to reject undeserving leaders who have failed them,” the statement added.
The media office described the 2027 general election as a defining moment for Nigeria, saying citizens were determined to reclaim the country through their votes.
It further warned that no amount of alleged rigging, intimidation or political manoeuvring could permanently suppress the will of the electorate.
The statement also reiterated its support for former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, describing him as a political leader whose leadership philosophy is anchored on competence, capacity, character, compassion and commitment.
It said Obi represents an option capable of addressing Nigeria’s current challenges and restoring the country’s dignity, prosperity and hope.
“The mandate rests with the people. Nigeria must function again, and it will be OK,” the statement declared.
POMR did not identify the governors allegedly involved in the purported efforts to undermine the electoral process or provide specific details of the alleged activities.
