Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Whirl Stroke, have killed two suspected bandits during an intelligence-led operation along the Adankolo–Apata Road in Kogi State.

The operation was conducted on Saturday following intelligence reports about the movement of suspected criminals around communities in Kabba-Bunu and Lokoja Local Government Areas of the state.

According to a statement published on the Nigerian Army’s official X account by the task force’s Acting Media Information Officer, troops of Sector 3 mounted an ambush along a suspected criminal supply route.

The soldiers reportedly engaged the suspected bandits on sighting them, forcing the group to flee.

A subsequent search of the area later that morning led to the recovery of the bodies of two suspected bandits in the Adankolo Forest.

The troops also recovered a locally made pistol, one cartridge and an empty 7.62mm special ammunition case.

The Force Commander of Operation Whirl Stroke and General Officer Commanding, 5 Division, Major General Moses Gara, commended the troops for their performance.

Gara urged residents to continue providing security agencies with timely and credible information to support ongoing efforts to combat banditry and other criminal activities.
