Peter Obi Media has celebrated Nigerian musicians who have used their talents to express support for the political project associated with Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, commending their contributions to national discourse through music.
The group particularly recognised KASI, Tijjani Gandu and Mr DapBoy for their songs expressing political aspirations and hopes for a better Nigeria.
In a statement issued on Saturday to mark World Singing Day, observed annually on the third Saturday of October, the spokesman for Peter Obi Media, Idris Zekeri Jnr, said the organisation honoured Nigerian singers at home and abroad whose creativity continued to enrich national life and inspire millions.
According to the statement, KASI, a young singer from Anambra State, gained attention among Obi’s supporters with her song, Peter Obi or Nothing.
It also acknowledged Tijjani Gandu for his Hausa-language song, Obi-Kwankwaso Clear, and Mr DapBoy for Lokaci, which the statement said conveyed support for Obi’s 2027 political aspiration.
POMR also commended emerging artists who have embraced music as a means of expressing their political convictions, hopes for national renewal and desire for a country that works for all Nigerians.
The group noted that Nigeria’s musical diversity, spanning Igbo highlife, Hausa melodies, Yoruba rhythms, English and Nigerian Pidgin, reflected the country’s rich cultural heritage and the potential for national unity.
It urged musicians to continue using their talents responsibly to promote peace, unity, hope and meaningful national dialogue.
“To Nigeria’s singers and musicians, we affirm that your talent is valuable, your creativity merits recognition, and your voices form an essential part of the nation’s cultural heritage,” the statement said.
POMR added that the celebration was not limited to recognising musical performances but also acknowledged the creativity, courage and passion artists brought to the country’s national conversation.
The organisation wished Nigerian singers a happy World Singing Day, expressing hope that the country’s diverse voices would continue to enrich shared humanity and inspire efforts towards building a better Nigeria.
