Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane has surpassed Lionel Messi’s Champions League scoring tally for players aged over 30 and is now closing in on Cristiano Ronaldo’s record for consecutive matches with a goal in the competition.

The England captain achieved the milestone on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, after scoring twice in Bayern’s thrilling 3-3 draw against Norwegian side Viking.

Kane inspired Bayern’s comeback after the German champions fell two goals behind in the first half. He converted a penalty in the 54th minute before scoring again six minutes later to restore parity.

His second goal took his Champions League tally to 36 in 40 appearances since turning 30, surpassing Messi’s 35 goals in 48 matches after the Argentine forward reached the same age.

The achievement further underlines Kane’s remarkable scoring form since joining Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023.

Despite his impressive performance, Bayern were denied victory when Viking scored a late equaliser after Michael Olise was sent off for receiving two yellow cards within seconds.

Kane’s brace also extended his scoring run in the Champions League to nine consecutive matches, equalling the record previously achieved by former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski and Ruud van Nistelrooy.

He is now two matches away from matching Ronaldo’s competition record of scoring in 11 successive appearances.

Kane could move closer to the milestone when Bayern host English champions Arsenal at the Allianz Arena next week. If he scores against Arsenal, he will have another opportunity to equal Ronaldo’s record during Bayern’s visit to Atletico Madrid next month.

The 33-year-old has enjoyed an outstanding start to the season, recording eight goals and four assists in nine appearances across competitions, according to the figures reported by talkSPORT.

His impressive form has also extended to international football. Kane recently earned his 125th appearance for England, matching former goalkeeper Peter Shilton’s national appearance record, and scored six goals across England’s four matches during the international break.

Those goals took his international tally to 91, further strengthening his position among England’s most prolific scorers.

Kane’s future at Bayern is also attracting attention, with his current contract due to expire next summer. Discussions are ongoing over a possible two-year extension, and the club has expressed optimism about reaching an agreement.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund said negotiations were progressing positively, adding that the club was determined to extend the striker’s contract and that Kane felt comfortable in Munich.

Since arriving from Tottenham, Kane has scored 156 goals in 154 appearances for Bayern. He has also won the Bundesliga Golden Boot in each of his three seasons at the club and helped the German giants secure two league titles.

With his scoring record continuing to improve, Kane will be hoping to maintain his remarkable Champions League form and move closer to another historic milestone.
