The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted former Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, permission to travel abroad for medical treatment.
Justice Joyce Abdulmalik granted the application on Monday after Nnaji’s counsel, Aji Kamale, asked the court to release his international passport to enable him travel for treatment.
The judge ordered the release of the passport and adjourned the case until October 26 for continuation of trial.
Nnaji was arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on July 13 on a six-count charge bordering on alleged certificate forgery, false information and corruption.
He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The ICPC alleged that Nnaji received about N29.58 million in salaries and allowances between August 2023 and October 2025 while serving as minister, and allegedly used his office to confer corrupt advantage on himself.
The commission also accused him of presenting purportedly false National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) certificates during the process leading to his appointment as minister.
The remaining counts relate to alleged forgery and the making and use of false documents.
Nnaji has pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
