A legal practitioner and public affairs commentator, Dr. Benson Enikuomehin, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo as Minister of Interior, describing the minister’s performance in office as credible and impressive.

Enikuomehin, in a statement titled “Thinking Proactively” and dated August 30, 2026, said he had reflected deeply on Tunji-Ojo’s activities in the administration of President Tinubu and concluded that the minister had performed creditably well.

According to him, members of society have a responsibility to speak out when things are wrong and should equally acknowledge and commend public officials who have distinguished themselves through effective performance.

He said Tunji-Ojo had surpassed his expectations since assuming office as Minister of Interior, adding that the people of Ondo State should be proud of the minister’s contributions to the Federal Government.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did well when he chose BTO to serve in his government. The gentleman has surpassed my expectations in his performance,” Enikuomehin said.

The lawyer also expressed the view that Tunji-Ojo could play a significant role in the future development and leadership of Ondo State if he is eventually called upon to serve the state.

He, however, said one of his concerns was that President Tinubu might be reluctant to release the minister from his administration because of his perceived value and performance.

Enikuomehin compared the situation to the period when former President Olusegun Obasanjo was said to have found it difficult to release the late Dr. Olusegun Agagu from federal service to return and serve Ondo State.

He described Tunji-Ojo as a “round peg in a round hole” and said it would be appropriate for Ondo State to benefit from his experience and capacity when the time comes.

Enikuomehin prayed for the Interior Minister to continue to excel in his assignment and expressed pride that Tunji-Ojo is from Ondo State.

He also renewed his commendation of President Tinubu for what he described as a sound choice in appointing Tunji-Ojo as a member of the Federal Executive Council.
