The Nigeria Democratic Congress has announced special discounts on nomination and expression of interest forms for women, youths, and persons living with disabilities as part of efforts to encourage broader participation in the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Morgan Enekweizu, the party said the initiative reflects its commitment to inclusive democracy and equal political participation for all Nigerians, including those in the diaspora.

Enekweizu stated that the NDC believes financial limitations, age, or physical disabilities should not prevent citizens from contributing to nation-building through elective offices.

According to him, women in Nigeria have historically faced cultural and structural barriers that have limited their participation in politics, making affirmative action necessary to encourage greater involvement.

He added that excluding women from the democratic process would amount to sidelining nearly half of Nigeria’s population.

Under the new arrangement, all female aspirants contesting on the platform of the NDC will pay only 50 per cent of the official fees for both the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms.

The party also announced that aspirants between the ages of 18 and 35 will enjoy a 50 per cent discount on the forms, while persons living with disabilities will pay just 25 per cent of the advertised fees.

The statement further clarified that forms for presidential, governorship, and National Assembly positions would be obtained at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, while forms for State House of Assembly elections would be available at the respective state offices of the party.
