Former Nigerian Vice-President, Yemi Osinbajo, has been appointed Senior Strategic Adviser to Jean Kaseya, Director-General of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

The appointment comes at a crucial time as Africa CDC advances its Africa Health Security and Sovereignty (AHSS) Agenda. The initiative focuses on strengthening Africa’s voice in global health governance, expanding domestic health financing, accelerating local manufacturing of medical commodities, and building resilient health systems across the continent.

Osinbajo is expected to bring his extensive experience in governance, finance, law, and diplomacy to the role. He will advise on Africa’s positioning in global health architecture reforms, sustainable health financing, local production strategies, strategic partnerships, and policy leadership within Africa CDC and the African Union.

His previous role as Nigeria’s Vice-President and Chairman of the Economic Sustainability Committee is also seen as a major asset that will support Africa CDC’s ongoing reforms and development efforts.
