President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed deep sympathy with former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma, who passed away on Friday in Cairo after an illness.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the late matriarch as a woman of remarkable virtue whose life was reflected in the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
Tinubu noted that Hajiya Umma lived a fulfilled life, raising a family that has made notable contributions to national development. He acknowledged the emotional weight of losing a mother, saying he understands the depth of El-Rufai’s grief.
“Losing a mother is a pain unlike any other,” the President said, adding that although words may not fully ease the sorrow, the memories of her love, wisdom, and guidance would serve as a source of comfort in the days ahead.
The President urged the former governor and his family to find strength in the values she instilled and the impactful life she lived. He also expressed hope that their faith would provide solace during the difficult time.
“As believers in Allah, we are convinced that she has fulfilled her purpose on earth and has returned to her Creator,” Tinubu stated.
He joined family members, friends, and well-wishers in mourning the deceased and prayed for the repose of her soul, asking that Allah grant her Aljannah Firdaus.
Hajiya Umma’s passing has drawn condolences from across the country, with many sympathising with the El-Rufai family over their loss.
