President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday assured Nigerians of greater prosperity as his administration sustains ongoing economic reforms, with a stronger focus on inclusion and empowerment.
Speaking during a one-day official visit to Yola, Adamawa State, the President said the reforms were steadily delivering results across the country, particularly in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. He emphasised that the Federal Government would continue to invest heavily in agriculture and human capital development to ensure food security and economic growth.
“We must be able to feed ourselves and feed the country,” Tinubu said, noting that collaboration between the Federal Government and state governments was producing measurable macroeconomic successes.
The President commended Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for effectively utilising increased federal allocations to execute projects that directly impact the lives of the people. He described the governor’s efforts as reflective of “a government of the people, by the people, and for the people.”
Tinubu particularly lauded the construction of an eight-lane road with an underpass designed to ease mobility and stimulate commerce, as well as the development of modern educational institutions and a remodelled state High Court complex aimed at strengthening the administration of justice.
He urged state governments to channel more resources into poverty reduction initiatives, especially by improving the quality of education for children.
The President also praised the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, describing him as honest, bold, and committed. He expressed confidence that ongoing security efforts would defeat banditry and terrorism.
Tinubu thanked traditional and religious leaders in the state for promoting peace and harmony, noting that enduring economic reforms requires unity and collective sacrifice.
In his remarks, Governor Fintiri thanked the President for his visit and support, stating that several landmark projects were commissioned during the visit. He disclosed that the state constructed 21 model schools across its 21 local government areas at a cost of N24.8 billion.
He added that the expanded Galadima Aminu Road with an overhead bridge and underpass, as well as the dualised Gimba Road with reinforced concrete drains, cost N15.6 billion. The remodelled High Court Complex cost N5.5 billion, while a newly constructed Government House office complex cost N6.3 billion.
Fintiri commended the President’s economic reforms and assured him of Adamawa State’s continued support.
Governors Agbu Kefas of Taraba, Babagana Zulum of Borno, Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau, Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, and Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, alongside ministers and other senior government officials, attended the event.
