84-year-old man jumps inside well in attempted suicide, rescued by fire service

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LSFRS) has rescued an 84-year-old man from a domestic well in the Aboru area of Lagos.

The incident occurred at No. 35A, Fadeyemi Street, Pipeline, within the Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area. According to the agency, a distress call was received at about 10:09 a.m. on Tuesday, prompting the immediate deployment of rescue personnel.

Firefighters from the Abesan Fire Station arrived at the scene within minutes and successfully recovered the elderly man from the well. Preliminary findings raised suspicion that the incident may not have been accidental, as the well was reportedly secured.

The victim was handed over to his family for further care, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service reaffirmed its commitment to prompt emergency response and encouraged residents to promptly report emergencies through official channels.
