Matheus Cunha struck a sensational 87th-minute winner as Manchester United came from behind to defeat Arsenal 3–2 at the Emirates Stadium, cutting the Gunners’ lead at the top of the Premier League to four points.

The substitute curled a brilliant long-range effort into the corner just minutes after Mikel Merino had drawn Arsenal level from a Bukayo Saka corner, sending the visiting supporters into wild celebrations.

Arsenal had taken the lead earlier when Lisandro Martinez inadvertently turned Martin Odegaard’s cross into his own net. However, a costly error from Martin Zubimendi allowed Bryan Mbeumo to race through and equalise for United.

Momentum shifted further in United’s favour when Patrick Dorgu produced a stunning strike that crashed in off the crossbar to make it 2–1, leaving Arsenal struggling for control.

Mikel Arteta’s side eventually restored parity through Merino’s close-range finish, but their hopes of a comeback were dashed when Cunha delivered the decisive blow late on.

The result continues an impressive start for United head coach Michael Carrick, who has now overseen back-to-back high-profile victories, while Arsenal remain without a win in three league matches. Boos were heard from sections of the home crowd at the final whistle as concerns grow over the team’s recent form.
