Calvin Bassey scored his first goal of the season as Fulham secured a 3–2 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor, ending a 74-year wait for a win at the ground and extending Burnley’s Premier League losing run to seven matches.
Bassey’s header, set up by an unmarked Harry Wilson following a set-piece, restored Fulham’s lead after Burnley had fought back into the contest. Wilson was the driving force behind Fulham’s performance, finishing the night with a goal and two assists.
Fulham had taken an early lead in the ninth minute when Wilson’s clever corner found Emile Smith Rowe, who tapped home from close range. Burnley responded well and were level soon after as Lesley Ugochukwu ghosted between defenders to score past Bernd Leno.
Burnley’s defensive lapses from dead-ball situations continued to haunt them, with Bassey punishing the hosts to put Fulham back in front. Despite a bright start to the second half from Scott Parker’s side, Fulham struck again on the counter-attack.
A swift move involving Smith Rowe and Samuel Chukwueze ended with Wilson controlling the ball before curling a fine finish past Martin Dubravka to make it 3–1.
Burnley threatened a late comeback when Oliver Sonne scored late on to set up a tense finale, but Fulham held on to claim a vital three points and climb to 13th in the table, increasing the gap between themselves and the relegation zone.
The result leaves Burnley facing growing pressure, while Fulham continue to gain confidence under Marco Silva, with Wilson emerging as a key figure at a crucial stage of the season.
