Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has died after collapsing in his office on Wednesday.
He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Yenagoa, where medical personnel pronounced him dead shortly after arrival. The incident occurred around 1:30 p.m., triggering an immediate emergency response.
Sources said the deputy governor was in critical condition as he was hurried into the hospital’s emergency unit. Family insiders confirmed his death, while others linked the sudden collapse to stress and a possible cardiac-related complication. However, the exact cause has not been officially disclosed.
Security operatives have since cordoned off the hospital premises as top government officials arrived to confirm the development and offer condolences.
Efforts to reach his media aide, Mr. Doubara Atasi, were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
