Arsenal continued their flawless Champions League campaign with a commanding 3–1 victory over Bayern Munich on Wednesday, extending their perfect group-stage record.
Jurrien Timber opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, heading in Bukayo Saka’s corner to highlight Arsenal’s strength from set pieces. Bayern equalised ten minutes later when 17-year-old Lennart Karl finished a slick move started by Joshua Kimmich and Serge Gnabry.
Arsenal dominated the second half, repeatedly testing goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. The pressure eventually told when a misplaced pass from Dayot Upamecano allowed Riccardo Calafiori to set up Noni Madueke, who restored the home side’s lead. Gabriel Martinelli later capitalised on a major error from Neuer, rounding the stranded goalkeeper to seal the win.
England captain Harry Kane endured a frustrating return to London, struggling to influence the match against his former rivals.
Midfielder Declan Rice praised Arsenal’s performance, describing Bayern as “the best team in Europe this season” and calling the match their toughest tactical test so far.
Both teams entered the game with four wins from four, but Arsenal now stand alone at the top of the group with a perfect record.
