The Federal Capital Territory Police Command, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), local hunters and vigilante groups, has launched special patrols to protect churches and worship centres in border and forest communities across the FCT.

The patrols, which began on November 9, cover areas linking Bwari to Kaduna, Bwari to Niger, and Gwagwalada to Niger State.

FCT Police spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said the operation was carried out on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, to enhance security during the ember months.

She explained that the patrols were aimed at deterring criminal activities and reassuring worshippers of their safety. Church leaders in the affected areas were also advised to maintain close communication with security agencies, reduce late-night gatherings, and report suspicious movements.

According to Adeh, access routes frequently used by criminal elements have been blocked, while security posts within forest zones are under constant monitoring.

The command urged residents to remain vigilant and support ongoing security efforts. For emergencies or information, the public may contact the police through 08032003913, 08068587311, CRU 08107314192, or the Public Relations Officer at 07038979348.

CP Dantawaye assured residents that the FCT remains safe and that more proactive security strategies will continue to be implemented.
