The Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State has rejected the outcome of the August 16 senatorial and House of Representatives bye-elections, accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission of deliberately sabotaging the process.

INEC had declared Joseph Ikpea winner of the Edo Central senatorial seat and Omosede Igbinedion winner of the Ovia Federal Constituency, both of the All Progressives Congress.

In a statement on Sunday, the PDP Elections Secretary, Chris Nehikhare, described the exercise as an “embarrassment to democracy,” alleging that INEC compromised the credibility of the polls through deliberate manipulation of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

“This was not a technical failure but sabotage to give APC an unfair advantage,” Nehikhare said, adding that Nigerians deserve transparent, credible elections
