The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command is still investigating the death of former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), David Shikfu Paradang, who passed away a week ago at Joy House Hotel, Abuja.

FCT Commissioner of Police, CP Tunji Disu, confirmed to reporters that authorities are leaving no stone unturned in uncovering the circumstances surrounding his death.

When asked on Monday about the possible arrest of Paradang’s female companion who visited him before his demise, Disu stated, “We are still investigating the matter. The lady has not been arrested. At the appropriate time, the investigation will be made public.”

CCTV footage obtained from the hotel contradicted earlier claims that Paradang was abducted by unknown gunmen in Abuja.

The footage showed that the former NIS boss arrived at the hotel in a black Mercedes Benz and booked a room for ₦22,000. He was later seen requesting hotel staff to escort a female companion to his room.

Two hours later, the woman left the hotel, but Paradang never emerged, prompting further scrutiny into the incident.

“No one suspected anything until this morning when one of his friends, a top military officer, traced his location to the hotel.

“He got there, saw his car parked and said he was looking for the owner of the car. The hotel staff told him the owner was in his room.

“It was when they eventually opened the door that they saw him sitting on the chair, dead,” said a source.
