The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Stella Nwadigo, a teacher at Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, following allegations of physically abusing a three-year-old student, Abayomi Michael.
Nwadigo’s arrest came after a disturbing video surfaced online showing her slapping the toddler, which quickly went viral and prompted outrage across social media. The video led to widespread public condemnation and calls for swift action.
Lagos State Police spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, stating, “The teacher is in custody and undergoing investigation. Further necessary steps will be taken to ensure justice is done.”
The incident has sparked renewed discussions on child protection and the importance of educators ensuring a safe environment for students.
Parents and guardians of children at Christ-Mitots School have expressed concern, with many urging for stricter regulations to prevent similar incidents in schools across the state.
