A Federal High Court in Abuja has prohibited the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from disbursing financial allocations to the Rivers State Government until a lawful appropriation act is enacted by a properly constituted House of Assembly.

Justice Joyce Abdulmalik issued the ruling on Wednesday in response to a lawsuit brought by the Rivers State House of Assembly, represented by Martins Amaewhule.

In her judgment, Justice Abdulmalik stated that Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s decision to submit the Rivers State 2024 Appropriation Bill to a four-member Assembly, which was not properly constituted, is invalid and should not be upheld.
