The refereeing in the game between AC Milan and Udinese left a lot to be desired, with Daniele Chiffi receiving heavy criticism from both sides. Among other things, a nasty stamp on Samuel Chukwueze was left unpunished.
The Rossoneri’s 1-0 win was fully deserved, but the game was filled with controversy as Tijjani Reijnders first received a questionable red card. And despite committing just three fouls, compared to Udinese’s 14, Milan received the same amount of cards (3).
One situation left the fans, as well as the Milan players, furious as Isaak Touré committed a clear stamp on Samuel Chukwueze. The stamp continued for a few good seconds as well, with the Niugerian understandably in great pain, but the referee didn’t even give a yellow card.

Despite the frustration that the officiating caused, Milan battled and deservedly clinched all three points. Udinese’s disallowed equaliser at the death may have only been a few centimetres offside, but the truth is that it would have been very lucky for the away side.
The next game is against Club Brugge in the Champions League and one can hope that the officiating will be better. On the other hand, it was far from good against Bayer Leverkusen…
