Two bandits were eliminated by Nigerian military troops in Mai-Iddo village, Kachia Local Government Area, Kaduna State, as they were attempting to demand a ransom.
The robbers met their Waterloo while attempting to obtain N1.5 million in return for four hostages who had been kidnapped the week before. A kid and three ladies were among the victims.
The military set up a trap for the bandits by coordinating with local vigilantes and a victim’s family member.
“The arrangements had been concluded with the troops with the man who will be taking the ransom to them and a vigilante. On getting to the particular location, the troops took cover.
‘’As two of the bandits came out to pick the ransom, the troops opened fire at them and killed the two of them instantly,” a community leader said.
As a result of the operation, the four prisoners were safely rescued and reunited with their families.
