President Bola Tinubu has instructed the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) to intensify efforts in monitoring highways and curbing road accidents across the country. This directive follows a tragic auto crash in Kaduna State that resulted in the deaths of 40 members of the Tijjaniyya Movement in Nigeria.

The victims were en route to a Maulud Nabiy event in Saminaka, Kaduna State, when their bus collided with a truck in Lere town on Sunday. Numerous others sustained injuries in the accident.

In a statement released on September 17 by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and injured, as well as to the governments of Kaduna and Plateau states. He also offered prayers for the souls of those who perished.

The statement read, “President Bola Tinubu has extended his condolences to the Tijjaniyya Movement over the tragic loss of 40 members in Sunday’s auto crash. He also commiserates with the families of the victims and the state governments of Kaduna and Plateau. The President has directed the FRSC to enhance highway monitoring to reduce road accidents nationwide.”
