The Federal Government and the Organised Private Sector (OPS) have agreed on a new national minimum wage of N62,000. This decision, made on Friday, includes an additional N2,000 on top of the previously proposed N60,000 discussed at the Tripartite Committee meeting last week.

Labour has reduced its demand to N250,000.

These figures were confirmed by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma and the President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, Comrade Festus Osifo. Uzodinma stated that the tripartite committee would submit the recommendation to President Bola Tinubu, who will then forward an Executive Bill to the National Assembly to establish the final minimum wage.
