Labour Party(LP) candidate in the 2023 Presidential election, Peter Obi has gifted Tungan Madaki Primary Healthcare Centre, Abuja the sum of N2 million.

He said this in Saturday during a return visit to Tungan Madaki village in Abuja to fulfill a promise I made during the 2024 World Sick Week last month.

writing on his Meta account, Obisaid: “I visited Tungan Madaki Primary Healthcare Centre in Abuja as part of my nationwide tour during which I pledged the sum of 2 million Naira to support the upgrading of the facility.

“My decision to provide this financial assistance is deeply rooted in my firsthand observation of the dire conditions within the facility when I visited. It has become evident that urgent reforms are needed to address the deteriorating state of our healthcare infrastructure, which serves as the foundation of societal progress. The current state of primary healthcare centres across the country is alarming, with less than 10% operating effectively. Challenges such as infrastructure decay, equipment shortages, and understaffing plague these facilities, with over 50% in a state of disrepair nationwide.

“Tungan Madaki Primary Healthcare Centre is critical because it serves 32 villages. My gesture underscores the urgent need for improvements in healthcare funding and resourcing, particularly at the grassroots level.

“A healthy populace is indispensable for the development of our nation, and we must invest in building a robust healthcare system that can cater to the needs of all citizens.

“Together, let us work towards building a new Nigeria founded on the principles of health, equity, and prosperity
