Easter: FRSC Assures of Safer Monitoring Environment in Kogi

The Federal Road Safety Corps Kogi State Sector Command, has reassured the public of her commitment to ensuring safety of lives and properties and preparedness towards a safer motoring environment in the State throughout the Easter period and beyond.

The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Samuel S Oyedeji, fsi who gave the assurance in a statement made available to Journalists in Lokoja on Thursday, advised all Road users to guide their conducts and maintain good behaviours on the highways as a reflection of the death of Christ for mankind and his resurrection which was born out of love.

Furthermore, the Sector Commander disclosed the Command’s readiness to consolidate on the Corps goal of achieving five percent reduction in Road Traffic Deaths and Injuries in 2024 through heightened enforcement, public enlightenment and advocacy, effective collaboration with other security agencies and other stakeholders.

To this end, he confirmed that the Command has already keyed into the FRSC National HQ Operational order for 2024 Easter Special Patrol operations and deploy over 600 personnel throughout the state with special marshals inclusive and logistics includes 18 patrol vehicles, 1 heavy tow trucks and 4 Ambulances to guarantee safety of motorist in the state and enhance Corps visibility on the highways during the period.

He also emphasized that the Corps will ensure Prompt Rescue Services, Traffic Calming and Lane Discipline, Speedy Removal of Obstructions, Public Education/Enlightenment, Mobile Court Sitting, Enforce Road Traffic Laws and Regulations based on result oriented strategies developed by the Corps to achieve hitch-free vehicular movements during the period.

The Enforcement shall focus on, Speeding and Dangerous driving/Overtaking, Installation of Speed Limiting Device, Lane indiscipline/Route violation, Road Obstructions, Use of Phone while driving, Seatbelt/Child Restraint use violations, Passenger’s manifest violation among others.

He however enjoined all and sundry to embark on this year’s Easter celebration and journeys with high level of consciousness and absolute disregards to any form of carelessness or behaviours culpable of endangering innocent life on the highways.

He wished all the Christians faithful a happy and safe Easter celebration and reminded them to call the FRSC call center through the toll free line: 122 or report to the nearest FRSC Office in Kogi State for seamless rescue operations of any emergency case.
