SPEAKER of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf has commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for appointment of experts as Commissioners
He described the appointed technocrats as those who know their onions and capable of contributing immensely towards the development of the state.
Aliyu stated this in a statement signed and made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed.
The Speaker noted that the decision of the Governor to hit the ground running revealed his level of preparedness for the job of steering the state craft following his triumph in November 11 gubernatorial election as declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said that the declared winner of the contest, Ododo, of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was adequately prepared and like his predecessor and mentor, the immediate past Governor Yahaya Bello, is committed to excellence.
According to the Speaker, the portfolios and antecedents of the appointees that were screened and confirmed by the Assembly showed that they would ensure good governance and bring dividends of democracy to bear on Kogi people.
Yusuf charged the newly inaugurated Commissioners to work tirelessly to deliver on the priorities of the present administration.
He urged them to work closely with the people at the grassroots to ensure they build on the gains recorded under the immediate past Governor.
The Speaker pledged that the present members of the 8th Assembly in the state would take their oversight responsibilities seriously and urged the Commissioners to work closely with Legislators from their areas for the good of Kogi State.
