Tribunal Ruling: Ndigbo Lagos calls for calm, vigilance

As the Election Tribunal prepares to
announce its verdict tomorrow 6th September, Ndigbo Lagos, a socio-cultural group, has urged all members of the Igbo community in Lagos
to exercise caution, be careful, and stay focused.
In a release by the secretariat obtained by Daily Review Online, the group said the decision of the Election Tribunal would hold great significance for our
community and the larger Nigeria political landscape.
Part of the statement read: ‘In light of this, we urge all of our fellow Igbo residents in
Lagos to exercise caution, be careful, and remain
vigilant during this time.
“We understand that emotions may run high and that
tensions can escalate, especially within the politically
charged atmosphere surrounding the electoral
processes across the country and most especially Lagos.
“It is essential to prioritize the safety and well-being of
ourselves, our families, and our community amidst this
crucial period.
We kindly request all Igbo residents in Lagos to adhere
to the following guidelines:
” Stay informed: Keep yourself updated with reliable
sources of information regarding the outcome of the Election Tribunal proceedings. Rely on trusted news
outlets, official statements, and community organizations for accurate updates.
” Maintain calm: While it is understandable to feel passionate about the proceedings, it is crucial to
maintain calm and composure. Avoid engaging in
confrontations or acts of aggression that may lead to
harm or jeopardize public safety!
” Be aware of Your surroundings: Pay attention to your surroundings and remain alert. If you notice any suspicious activity or sense potential danger, report it
immediately to the appropriate authorities or contact your nearest Ịgbọ community organizations for
assistance. Ígwè bụ Ike!
“Avoid spreading rumors: Verify the authenticity of
any information you receive before sharing it further.
Spreading rumors can create panic and unnecessary
unrest within the community.
“Engage in peaceful dialogue: If discussions about the
verdict Arise wherever you may be, we advise cautious
muteness. But if you must express your opinions, please
do so respectfully and engage in peaceful dialogue.
“We Encourage open-mindedness, understanding, and
empathy towards differing viewpoints.”
