The Kogi State Ministry of Health in collaboration with Riders for health has distributed motorcycles to Disease Surveillance and Notification Officers ( DSNOs ) in five local government areas to support the provision of healthcare services in designated flood camps.
The Kogi state commissioner of Health, Dr. Zakari Usman in a message during the flag off ceremony in Lokoja charged the beneficiaries to use the motorcycles for the purpose intended.
The commissioner who was represented by the permanent Secretary of the Ministry ,Mrs. Falilat Yinka Razak, said the purpose of the donation is to enable the healthcare providers to get to difficult terrains during flooding to render assistance to victims.
The commissioner presented thirty thousand naira to each of the benefiting local government healthcare providers for fueling of the motorcycles for a period of six months.
The benefiting local government areas include, Ajaokuta , Bassa, Ibaji, Idah and KOGI local government areas.
He explained that the Directors of primary healthcare are to ensure that the motorcycles are strictly used for the purposes intended.
Responding unbehalf of other benefiting local government areas, the DSNO for Ajaokuta LGA thanked the state government and donors for the assistance and promised proper utilization of the machines.
