Lift of Ban On Egume Security Committee, Group pleads

The Chairman of Dekina Local Government Council in Kogi State, Alhaji Shiaka Okolo has been called upon to lift the ban on the security committee constituted by Egume community for safety of lives and property in the area.

The national President of Egume Ome Descendants’ Union, (EODU), Alhaji Muhammed Ibrahim made the call at the quarterly expanded executive council meeting of the union held in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.

Alhaji Ibrahim noted that the call to unban the security committee of Egume became necessary in view of the ravaging security threat in the society which according to him the committee had earlier proved its worth and capability in that direction.

The national President said he had made several efforts to meet with chairman over why such executive action be taken without giving the committee or the national body of the union fair hearing of any possible allegations.

He commended members of the vigilante group in the area for the maintenance of peace and called for the sustenance of synergy between the group and the police towards cubbing criminality in the community.

Alhaji Ibrahim also called on the people of Egume to intensify efforts in the payment of the annual development levy towards the development of the community.

In their various contributions, the Amana-Ata Igala’, Chief Atogijo Onu, the representative of Fulani, Madaki, the Herdsmen / farmers crises resolution Coordinator, chief Lawrence Alfa and the Chairman of Egume vigilante group, Navi Usman commended the efforts of the national body of EODU for the Lofty achievements since the present Exco came on board.

According to them much have been achieved in the area of security, maintenance of peace, respect for tradition and custom of the land and encouraging contributions by the sons and daughters of Egume towards the development of Egume community.
