The Presidential candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has condemned the delay in the declaration of results of the governorship election in Adamawa State.

Atiku warned that the delay threatens the peace of the State as the uncertainty has continued to raise undue tension among the people.

Atiku, who addressed newsmen in his Yola home on Monday afternoon, said there was no need for the delay in concluding announcement of the results as even result for the remaining Fufore LGA is ready.

“The votes have been given and uploaded on INEC platform and PDP is winning. It makes no difference when you add the Fufore result, so I see no need for the delay in concluding the process,” Atiku said.

He appealed to all people of goodwill to make INEC conclude the result collation and declare the results amd avoid putting the state in crisis.

“Adamawa is a peaceful state, but by its action, INEC has put the state on edge and this should stop,” Atiku said.

The Nation reports that results from 20 of Adamawa State’s 21 LGAs were declared before midnight of Sunday with only Fufore LGA pending.

INEC suspended collation, asking for time to address issues with the Fufore result before resuming collation by noon on Monday but as of 2pm when Atiku addressed reporters, INEC was yet to resume collation at its Yola State Collation Centre.
