Ranti Ojo bows out as Kogi TUC Chairman, Tijani steps in

Comrade Sule Ahmed Tijani has been elected as the new Chairman, Trade Union Congress, (TUC) in Kogi State.

He takes over from Comrade Ranti Ojo whose tenure in office has come to an end.

Tijani emerged as the new Chairman of the association through consensus at the 5th triennial TUC Kogi State delegate conference held in Lokoja on Tuesday.

Other offcials elected alongside the new TUC State Chairman in Kogi are Comrade. Obajemu Bamidele Samuel, (Vice Chairman), Comrade Emejeh Ogwu Sunday, (Secretary), Reuben Okpanwu, (Assistant Secretary), Abubakar Achile, (Treasurer), Suleiman Danjuma, (Financial Secretary), Idris Abdulrahaman, (PRO), Ige Abiodun Ajagun, (Auditor), Margaret B. Adeika, (Chairperson, Women Commission), Ibikunle Abejide, (Secretary, Women Commission) and Ranti Matthew Ojo, (Ex-Officio).

In his acceptance speech, the newly elected Chairman Comrade Sule Ahmed Tijani promised to build on the legacies of his predecessor, adding that, Workers in the state will not be exploited under his leadership.

Tijani promised to tow the line of unity of purpose, oneness and all inclusiveness of his predecessor.

While expressing appreciation to the outgone Executive for thier laudable achievements including the ongoing building of the Secretariat of the Union in Lokoja promised to justify the confidence reposed in him and other members.

Earlier, the former Chairman of TUC in Kogi State Comrade Ranti Ojo admonished the new TUC leadership not to betray the trust of workers in the State.

Comrade Ojo, said TUC under his watch recorded remarkable achievement such as improved workers welfare, new minimum wage, while many workers were sent on different courses across the Country.

Comrade Ojo charged the new Chairman to carry the executive members along in the running of the Union and allow the fear of God and sincerity of purpose be his watchword.

He equally thanked Governor Yahaya Bello for the support received from the Government so far stressing that such be extended to the new executive.

In his opening remark, the Chairman of the Election Committee, Comrade Aaron Yusuf Akeji expressed appreciation to all especially the State Administrative Council for arriving at Consensus candidates for the positions of the Union.

Speaking, the National Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Comrade Festus Osifo represented by the Head of Information, Comrade Kenneth Mokwenye charged the newly elected officials to work alongside the outgone Executive to achieve set goals.

He equally appealed to members of TUC in the State to support the Executive to succeed in office.

Highlights of the occasion was the administering of oath of office to the new executive and handling over of documents to the newly elected Chairman as well as the key to the official bus of the Union.
