From Joseph Amedu, Lokoja

It was bitter days since Sunday uptil the moment in Lokoja as motorists groan over bad spots on Ganaja road that has caused 72 hours gridlock in the capital city.

In the last 72 hours, motorists plying Lokoja through Ajaokuta to other parts of the state and eastern flank of the country have remained stagnant as a result of the gridlock caused by the bad portion of the Ganaeja road, leading to breakdown of vehicles.

Our Correspondent who visited the scene, saw men of the FRSC battling to control the traffic.

The Ganaja road which is a gate way to the Eastern part of Nigeria, has remained in a dilapidated condition for a long time.

Motorists who spoke to Our Correspondent described the route as a night mare as they now become regular visitors to mechanic workshops.

It would be recalled that the road was recently awarded by the federal government but unfortunately, the Contractors abandoned site before the end of last year.

Motorists also observed that “previous administrations have helped in maintaining the road until recently when the present state government said it was no longer under its purview”

Efforts to get to the Federal Controller of roads in the state for his comment failed as he could not be reached.
End.
