Hon.Teejay Yusuf has overwhelmingly won the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Senatorial Primary election for kogi west senatorial district.
Hon. Teejay Yusuf is currently member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.
Teejay on Tuesday May 24 2022, was declared the winner of the election by the chairman of the electoral committee, having scored 163 votes to defeat his close rival Dino Melaye who scored 99 out of 265 accredited votes for the election conducted at the Olonijola event center kabba kogi state.
Teejay defeated three other contestants, Hon Adeniyi Olayemi, Hon Sam Aro Banidele, and sen. Dino Melaye respectively.
With the declaration of Teejay Yusuf as the winner in the delegates election, he becomes the PDP flagbearer for the 2023 kogi west senatorial general election.
Speaking with his supporters after declaration, Teejay appreciated God for the success of the election and dedicated his victory to Him and thanked his supporters for their contributions towards his victory.
The lawmaker who was highly elated also paid tribute to the PDP leaders in kogi west senatorial district for their roles in his emergence as the candidate for the senatorial district.
“I feel very happy, i thank Almighty God, only Him has done this most importantly, i thank my family, my leaders and supporters, they have given me all support for this past few months, they have lost me because of this election.
I give them thanks; i thank my mother for being a wonderful mother for her prayers and best wishes” he said
“I thank the party executives across the seven local government, delegates, all party faithfuls and host of other leaders; whatever you ask us to do, we will do and promise not to disappoint you all.
“Thank you so much for providing the enabling environment for me to come out victorious, let me thank the hierarchy of PDP in Abuja led by the National chairman, Dr Iyorchia Ayu, and that of kogi west senatorial district Hon chief Sam Abenemi the Deputy state chairman for allowing transparency in all the processes that has happened today Teejay stated.
He also commended the delegates for casting their votes for him and said that he will continue to hold them and the in high esteem.
Teejay was later given a rousing reception by his people and the supporters at his country home kabba.
