Gas Explosion Kill One, Injure Others in Kogi

Gas explosion at a drinking joint, Labi Bear Parlour Lewu junction in Kabba, Kogi state, has killed one with others sustaining various degrees of injury.

A Statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer for Kogi, SP William Aya, said that the Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka on receiving the report immediately deployed teams of personnel from Police Mobile Force, Quick Response Unit as well as conventional Officers to the scene along with the Military personnel to control access and evacuated the victims to Hospital.

Aya said that during the process, one Aisha who was injured by the explosion and evacuated to the hospital with others injured, later died while the rest are still receiving treatment.

According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police has directed that full investigation into the incident should commence immediately by deputy commissioner of police in-charge of investigation along with the personnel of the Explosives Ordinance Department (EOD) to unravel the cause of the explosion.

The Commissioner of Police, then urged members of the public to go about their lawful business while reiterating the Command’s level of commitment in synergy with other security agencies in ensuring safety of lives and property.
