2022 FCT Poll: INEC holds Training For Electoral Officers

The Electoral Institute in collaboration with IFES has organized a Technical Workshop for Electoral Officers and Assistant Electoral Officers on the Management of Electoral Training for the 2022 FCT Area Council Election. The training commenced on Januaty 25th and will last till Thursday, the 27th p at Ibeto Hotel, Abuja.
INEC said the objective of the training is to equip the participants with the knowledge and ability to organize and manage training on polling and counting procedures for Poll workers effectively and efficiently.
The training of Electoral Officers and Assistant Electoral Officers would focus on Election Day activities with emphasis on Polling and Counting procedures as well as an in-depth review of the Cascade Training plan for the forthcoming FCT area council elections scheduled to hold on 12th February, 2022 to ensure effective implementation of all Electoral Trainings at the Areas Councils.
The training also equipped participants with the skillsets and competencies needed to manage Electoral Trainings at the Area Councils.
The Hon.Resident Electoral Commissioner, FCT, Alhaji Yahaya Bello in his opening remarks underscored the importance of the training as it would bring to the fore issues that would enhance the capacity of the Electoral Officers and their Assistants.
The Director General of the Electoral Institute in his welcome address urged participants to be neutral and professional in the discharge of their duties. He went further to brief participants that the Commission has introduced new tech driven innovations into the election process in order to increase credibility, deepen transparency and ensure the sanctity of the ballot.
A goodwill message was delivered by the Country Director, IFES. Mr. Seray Jah while encouraging the participants to be on top of their duties, appreciated the cordial relationship existing between the Commission and IFES.
The National Commissioner and Chair BEI, Prof. Abdullahi Abdu Zuru while declaring the training open tasked participants to be good ambassadors of the Commission as they represent the Commission while discharging their duties as Electoral Officers before, during and after the elections at the various Area Councils.
Also present at the training are Directors, Training, Dr. Binta Kasim Mohammed, Research and Documentation, Dr. Ibrahim Sani, Ag. Administrative Secretary TEI, Mr. Tunde Ojedokun and other management staff of the Institute and the INEC FCT office.
