NECO Releases 2021 SSCE Results

The National Examination Council NECO on Friday released the results of the Senior School Certificate Examination it conducted nationwide between June and July this year.
Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the organisation Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, who released the results in Minna, said more than 878,925 candidates recorded credit in five subjects including English and Mathematics.
The Registrar also disclosed that 1,226,796 candidates scored five credits irrespective of English and Mathematics while 1,094,291 candidates had credit in Mathematics.
1,226,796 candidates made up of 657,389 males and. 576,242 sat for the examination out of the 1,233,631 that registered.
Wushishi also revealed that the cases of malpractices recorded during the examination was just 20,003 as against 33, 470 recorded last year, attributing this to “adequate security Measures” put in place by the organization and the adoption of biometric verification devices and the strengthening of the examination monitoring devices.
The Registrar said as a result some schools in Bauchi, Kaduna and Bayelsa states had been recommended for deregistration “due to their involvement in mass cheating/whole school cases” while 20 supervisors were also blacklisted for aiding and abetting the commission of the malpractices.
Wushishi said the examination body faced a lot of challenges, which included paucity of funds and appealed to government to look into the matter
He appreciated the roles played by the security agencies, the media and other stakeholders which ensured the success of the examination.
