Kidnappers kill Miyetti Allah chairman in Kaduna for failing to raise N20m ransom

Kidnappers have killed the Lere Local Government branch chairman of the Miyyeti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), in Kaduna State, Abubakar Abdullahi Dambardi, for failing to raise the sum of N20 million as ransom.

In a press release signed by the state chairman of the association, Haruna Usman Tugga, it was revealed that Dambardi’s abductors killed him in the early hours of Friday in his hometown of Lere.

Tugga lamented that the kidnappers demanded N20 million but the deceased was only able to borrow about N250, 000 and gave them but they were not satisfied with the amount and decided to kill him.

“They took him along Saminaka, Mari, Zango Highway and killed him there,” said Tugga, while appealing to the state government and security agencies to investigate and fish out the culprits with immediate effect.

He described Dambardi as an ambassador of peace among the people of Lere LGA and beyond.

“We have really lost a leader of high respect, who had been assisting the association in promoting harmony and coexistence among members,” he said.

The state chapter of MACBAN condoled with the family and friends of the deceased and prayed to Allah (S.W.T) to grant him paradise and also give the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Kaduna’s Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the killing of the MACBAN leader, and stated that the state governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was saddened by the incident.

He said, “The Kaduna State Government has been briefed of the killing of one Alhaji Abubakar Abdullahi, a Fulani community leader in Lere local government area.

“According to the brief, Alhaji Abdullahi was abducted by unknown gunmen who invaded his home in Lere in the early hours of Friday and was shot dead by his captors along a highway shortly after.

“The Kaduna State Government awaits detailed reports of the incident from security agencies at this time.”
