The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has named Governors Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa and Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta as chairmen of the National Convention Planning Committee as well as the Committee to zone NWC offices.

The duo were picked at the 94th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the opposition party.

The acting National Chairman of the party also inaugurated the party’s national campaign council for the Anambra gubernatorial election scheduled for November 6, 2021.

Elder Akinwonmi performed the inauguration ceremony Thursday during the 93rd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the PDP held at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.

He said the selection and choice of the national campaign council were carefully made after an extensive and intensive consultation across all strata of PDP.

He said the party leadership had the highest optimism that the membership was capable and competent to deliver Anambra back, stressing that “Anambra will fall for PDP.”

He called on all members of the council and Anambra people to close ranks and deliver the state to PDP families, saying the cooperation of all and sundry was necessary to actualise PDP’s dream.

He appreciated all the aspirants who contested with the candidate for their wonderful spirit of sportsmanship.

“I call on you to kindly hold hand together to deliver Anambra to PDP. We call on all of us to set aside differences, and look at the PDP and Nigeria above any personal consideration. Anambra is winnable for PDP,” he added.

The Deputy Chairman of the council and Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, who stood in for the Chairman and Governor of Abia State, Ikpeazu Okezie, said PDP was set to win the elections in Anambra state.
Okowa, who said Anambra had always been populated by the PDP, regretted that the party had always run into problems.

“We want to reassure the party that we are going to put in all, to ensure that we reconcile, everyone, and that we go into that election as one body. And that definitely we’re going to win that election by the special grace of God,” he said.

“There will definitely be no rigging of the elections. And I’m glad that INEC itself has come out with a new device. for the purpose of the Anambra election and it will be tested first in Delta State on Saturday.

“And I’m told from the information that we already have ahead of the elections in Delta on Saturday, that it would not be possible for anybody to rig elections because there’ll be no use of incident forms. It is either your biometrics, or your facial capture or else you will not be allowed to vote. So, we are definitely going to communicate with the people at the grassroots, and we know that we actually as a party own the grassroots in Anambra state.

“So, Mr. Chairman sir, be rest assure that the campaign Council will work with the state campaign Council. Together we shall deliver Anambra State, back to the party,” he added.

The governorship candidate, Valentine Ozigbo, in his remarks, thanked the state and national campaign councils and the people of Anambra state for considering him worthy to be of service to them.
