Barca’s financial situation worse than thought – Audit report

Barcelona’s financial situation was known to be less than ideal, but an audit carried out by the new board has revealed it to be worse than first thought.

The forecast is bleak for the next couple of years, with Barcelona likely to have to tread lightly in the transfer market and unlikely to become profitable until the 2022-23 season.

Losses of 350 million euros are predicted for this season, while the Catalan club will remain in the red in the next campaign as well.

It is worth noting, however, that the report has been carried under the assumption that Lionel Messi will sign a new contract and that Barcelona will sign another top player this summer.

According to Esport3, Barcelona’s new CEO, Ferran Reverter, is responsible for explaining the situation to the new board and, while it appears worrying, he is confident that the club can remain competitive in the transfer market and will make an economic recover in the medium term.
