The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All
Progressives Congress (APC) and the Federal Government of trying g to forcefully take over the governance of Zamfara state through an imposition of an orchestrated state of emergency in the state.

In a statement by Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said it ejects the attempt by power-mongers in the APC administration to undermine and subvert the democratic order in Zamfara state by creating the impression that the state government, under Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle, is to blame for the failures of the APC-led federal government to contain insecurity in the state.

Part of the statement read: “It is instructive to recall that the plot by the APC to derail the Matawalle administration and forcefully take over the control of the state started immediately after the Supreme Court handed him victory intge Zamfara state governorship election; a plot which heightened afterGovernor Matawalle refused the pressure to decamp to the APC.

“Ngerians can recall that our party had on December 19, 2020 issued a
statement to alert of plots by the National Caretaker Committee of the
APC, using an impostor, as spokesperson, to heighten insecurity in the
Northwest part of our country.”

The PDP had in that statement, further alerted of conspiracies by the
APC to use the said impostor to destabilize Northwest states,
particularly Zamfara, by creating the space for acts of violence and
blame it on Governor Matawalle.

Meanwhile, the party has congratulated the Governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, as he attains the age of 53 years.

The party also applaudes Governor Ayade for his exceptional performance epecially in the massive industrialization and empowerment of the people in all sectors of life.

Governor Ayade has distinguished himself as an excellent administrator,
a down to earth technocrat and very brilliant leader, whose commitment
to the unity, stability and development of our nation has been
exceptional both as a senator of the Federal Republic and now as a state
governor.

“Our party urges Governor Ayade to continue in providing good governance in his state, in line with the manifesto and ideals of our party.

“The PDP congratulates Governor Ayade at this auspicious occasion and
prays to God to grant him many more years in good health to continue to
be a blessing to his state, our dear nation and humanity at large.”
