Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has vowed to improve on his performance for the Super Eagles and match the expectations of Nigerian at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Onazi and his midfield partner Joel Obi were lethargic last Saturday as the Super Eagles lost 2-1 to the Three Lions of England and both hauled off at half-time when the team trailed England 2-0.

“Saturday’s outing was disappointing from me and I know it was not the best from me due to reasons I could not lay my hands on, but it is a process one has to pass through to get better,” Onazi wrote on his Instagram page.

“A lot of criticisms and lot of blames yes I know, but it can only come once in a while.

“Criticisms can only make me better. I can’t run away from it but to learn and get better.

“Thanks to everyone who came out to support the Super Eagles preparations for the World Cup is still on to get us sharp.”

It remains to be seen if the former U-17 and U-20 midfielder will shape up to keep his place in the Super Eagles starting line-up when they take on Croatia on the 16th of June.
