Serena Williams will be serving up a lot of love to her newborn baby.
The tennis pro welcomed a baby girl on Friday — in the middle of the U.S. Open — at St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach with fiancé Alexis Ohanian.
“Tennis star Serena Williams gives birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Mom and baby doing well,” WPBF-25 news producer Chris Shepherd announced on Twitter, citing a source at the hospital.
Serena Williams is said to be in labor after checking into St. Mary’s Medical Center in Palm Beach, Florida on Wednesday [Aug. 31].
According to reports, the 35-year-old tennis champ is expected to give birth today after being induced last night. The entire floor of birthing suit was reportedly cleared of other patients in order to ensure maximum privacy.
Serena, who announced her surprise pregnancy with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, 33, back in April, is reportedly due to give birth on Friday, after doctors made the decision to induce her on Thursday night.
Local news outlet CBS12 reported this morning that doctors confirmed Serena’s Wednesday arrival after the first floor of the location was also shut down to all unauthorized personnel.
Currently, nobody without official security clearance, is able to access the area.
Serena reportedly went into labor just hours hours before her sister Venus was scheduled to face Maria Sakkari of Greece in the third-round of the U.S. Open at 3 p.m. ET.
After a yearlong hiatus, Serena plans to return to competition at the Australian Open next year, her coach Patrick Mouratoglou said Thursday.
