It was reported that the security operatives had on a tip-off, stormed the market in the morning and made straight to the Bureau De Change section where some traders had on seeing them, took to their heels.
Shops reportedly raided and foreign exchange including (mint) recovered in them were about 20.
It was learnt that the arrested suspects are currently cooling off at the Onitsha Army Barracks.
A trader who pleaded anonymity expressed surprise that the security operatives should storm the market in search of illegal Bureau De Change operators when there are thousands of them along the major roads and some strategic positions where even government officials patronize them.
As at the time of filling this report, the section looked deserted as traders especially the operator fled to avoid being arrested.
