Cult war in Anambra: One shot dead, Church burnt

One person said to be a member of a cult group, Aye, was reportedly shot dead by a suspected member of a rival group and two houses that included a prayer ministry razed yesterday at Amafor and our Lady’s roads, Nkpor. Idemili North local Government area, Anambra state.
It was gathered that the deceased was shot dead by his assailant who laid ambush as the deceased was getting closer to his house.
In anger, irate youths were said to have mobilized themselves immediately and set the family house of the rival group member suspected to have killed the deceased ablaze.
As that was not enough, a prayer house located at our lady’s road believed to be where the parents of the killer member worshipped, was also set ablaze by the raging youths numbering about 50.
The killer suspect is still at large when this reporter visited the scenes of the incidents.
Reacting to the incident, an eye witness who pleaded anonymity said that most of a youths in Nkpor, Obosi, Ogidi and parts of Onitsha are cult members.
He added that motorcycle armed robbers have also taken over Nkpor old road and urged security operatives to enforce the ban on motorcycle operators from (7.pm to 6.am).
Contacted on the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Nkiru Nwode said she was in a meeting pledging to call after the meeting.
