Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel has called for fervent prayers and strategic planning as a way out of the prevailing economic recession ravaging the State and country.
The Governor made the call at Qua Iboe Church Ikot Ekpene Road Uyo, where he attended the Church Service.
Governor Emmanuel said that the downturn in the economy requires all to invest quality time in prayers and hard work, stressing that God usually manifest in moments of hard times and appealed to believers to strategies and venture into large agriculture for sustainability and wealth creation.
He particularly decried the spate of criminality among youths across the globe and called on parents to inculcate good morals in their children saying that satan is at work to lure youngsters in to drugs and other violent crimes and that concerted efforts must be made to reverse the trend.
He said his administration is committed to laying a solid economic foundation to alleviate the suffering of the people and expressed optimism that the present economic situation shall give way to a boom urging all not to despair but trust God for a breakthrough.
In a sermon culled from Esther Chapter 6 verses 1-13 entitled Your Season of Honour , Reverend Ibub Emah charged Christians to be sensitive to the season and maximise every opportunity to honour God.
He said that dedication to duty by Mordecai to the service of God and to the King brought him honour despite the evil scheming of Herman and frowned at the rate of disrespect to Elders and constituted authorities by youths saying this has attracted avoidable evil in the land.
The man of God therefore tasked parents to inculcate in their children sound morals by nurturing them with the fear of God and prayed God to save the society from evil scourge.
The Church service climaxed with the induction of Governor Emmanuel into Nka Idoreyin Association of the Church headed Brother Victory Hanson.
